Assassin’s Blade Review:
Not sure why everyone says to read this book 3rd. I think it makes sense to read it first; to start the story at the beginning. By the time I finished and got to what we all knew was coming, Sam, I had almost forgotten what we were doing in Crown of Midnight. It’s such a distant feeling and took the wind out of my sails (Lol, since she’s on a boat timeline wise) But, yes. Again. I knew who the betrayer was all along, but thanks for the confirmation. Aside from all of that nonsense I think this series is perhaps one of the best to start reading if you’re getting into Fantasy. It’s well written and very quick to advance the story. This is a great series to begin with, and it’s a great motivator for anyone looking to write their own novel. It isn’t perfect by any means, but it has very thought out plots that are relevant to later books. Looking back on the whole thing I did very much enjoy these and read them quickly.
Throne of Glass Review:
This was an interesting read. The characters were well thought out and I enjoyed the plot & setting. The King’s Champion was a good side quest so to speak. It was also equally fun to see the various other Assassin Types. The extra “mystical” things they slowly lean into definitely makes this a promising read. I’d also like to point out that even with limited information…I can tell you right away who betrayed Caleana. Anyone familiar with Star Wars types of betrayals will discover it quickly. Still loved it.
Personal Notes: Everyone, even the Author says to start with this book. I’m not sure why. There’s NOTHING that makes this one more important than the Assassin’s Blade. In fact I think everyone should start with A.B.
Crown of Midnight Review:
Nehemia is my favorite character EVER. So much mystery and magic. I’m glad the author didn’t hold it off for long. It was all well paced and a page turner form start to finish. Which I’ll mention I was starting to suspect the last twist. I was talking myself out of that scenario, but then NO WAY. This book was so fun and adventurous. It is so far my favorite in this series. This is a book you won’t be able to put down from page one to the last. Be sure to read it at home in a comfortable spot where you will not be disturbed for a few hours.
Heir of Fire Review:
This book was a nice break into a new continent with new things to discover about magic. I enjoyed getting to know some of the Fae characters and their roles. I think this book quickly introduces what we’ve all been waiting on, even the characters themselves. We can all sit back and go “it’s about time.” Which is fun and also exciting when conflicts ramp up and give way to the broader story which is that this is a worldly thing not just separating these peoples or lands.
Queen of Shadows Review:
I wasn’t too impressed with the beginning of the book, but the second half had me giggling non-stop. Once it started on that path it just slid into my fav book until I read the next one. This one had a lot of power showing and it’s clearly not the end, but as a beacon for “all these powerful people care gonna do some cool stuff soon” vibes.
Empire of Storms Review:
Really liking how all the characters are now converging together and making such big impacts for the next journey. It was exciting to see some old faces and get the “finally” from others. Lysandra is definitely becoming a fast favorite. I can also see why so many people love Manon. I can’t help but enjoy seeing so many independent or head strong women in a series. It’s so refreshing.
Tower of Dawn Review:
The beginning of this book was so incredibly difficult to read. It spends so much time over details f fa new kingdom that are not necessary. It was a pain to get through, but once you are nearly halfway it’s hard to put down. I do like the complexities of other kingdoms, but I like the information strung about over time. The Khagenate is very interesting as well as the Torre. I love that there is a dedicated place for healers to learn. I’m not sure if we all do this, but as a child I feel we all consider healing or being a doctor/nurse. Even for a fleeting moment we really THINK about it. How our life would be if we chose that path. I still wonder if I would have chosen it, but with the idea of magic behind healing I would have jumped at the opportunity which makes me feel deeply for Yrene.
Kingdom of Ash Review:
It was a grand “Final Battle” and there were a lot of tears shed. I’m glad we got that enemy destruction fulfillment because I wasn’t sure how grandiose it would be. Though I can say it was delivered and relished. Despite the book being SO thick and hard to hold at times, it only took me four days to read. It was perfect to see it all finally come together at the end with literally every character. It was a celebration of its own being able to see them all interact and understand why they were there. Since it took nearly a year to complete the series itself there were lingering feelings towards a lot of characters. Made the read very emotional, “To Whatever End.”
