Artists

Jerry Vanderstelt

This piece we bought for my Uncle’s Family to share. It’s Mandalorian and Grogu on Canvas 18x24.

Jerry was such an amazing artist. A lot of his pieces were so magical. I had the chance to talk to him about one thing in Art that really bothers me…

When people do art in the same format as what’s seen on the Screen. A computer can re-generate a version of a picture and make it look like Art now-a-days. The idea is to make art with characters we know and love but in a unique way that has NEVER been seen before. This is very much true with is Leia of Alderaan piece that I need to buy someday. It’s Leia, ON Alderaan (before it’s blown up) and it’s just an imaginative piece of work that makes me WANT it so badly.

So I got to talk to him about that, and of course asked him about his work. He paints each of these in Acrylic Paint on Canvas first. So most of the originals are epically insane. In a very beautiful way. But I asked him about his techniques and how he gets certain effects even in Acrylic. It was a very insightful visit, and I’m so thankful he took the time to really talk to us even before we decided to purchase this piece. An artist who’s really invested in the people who love his work is a successful artist.

Russel Walks

Russel was also an incredibly attentive gentleman. This Padmé (Love) piece is one of a triple series that also features Leia (Hope), and Rey (Faith).

It was hilarious because I wanted to inquire about the three pieces and he said “We’re all outta Hope.” Which inevitably enough was about what I had figured. Leia is so iconic it was likely they would be sold out. LOL! But the way he said it was just great.

Also, he was kind enough to compliment me on my eyebrows. No really. I do my makeup sometimes where I line my eyebrows to give them a thicker look since I have unusually thin eyebrows. And the day before I was goofing with Dad before we left saying “Is my eyeliner straight?!” because clearly others notice. Especially artists! As an artist even if I’m doing makeup it’s gotta be straight! So Russel said “Your eyebrows are on POINT!” I was very embarrassed because there was a crowd, but also proud because SOMEONE NOTICED! Hahaha. Really great guy, hope to meet him again sometime.

Dawn Murphy

Dawn was a lovely lady and busy as EVER with her print signing. I was shocked to see that most people were interested in the Queen’s Wardrobe more than the Senator’s Wardrobe. It came as no shock when I heard Her Universe was selling items of clothing based on the Queen’s Wardrobe just around the corner. YES I bought some.

So the extra postcard was signed on the back and an extra nicety considering it was a deleted scene costume. Dawn has a very unique style with clothing and I had considered pre-purchasing these when artists were first announced but it was very expensive. Luckily for me there were some left over by the time we piddled around to her table.

Her Universe

Queen’s Cardigan

Queen’s Handmaiden Hoodie

Royal Naboo Seal (Logo)

That was the extent of my money spending. I knew most of it would be from Her Universe. They have such amazing real wear clothing for both women and men. And not just one franchise. They have a ton of other amazing pieces. And the quality is legit.

As an adult that can finally wear whatever the hell I want, I’ve been looking for Star Wars clothing for a while that I can be comfortable in. I don’t like just any old t-shirt. I’m very picky. And although it is a bit expensive to order some of these pieces, I’d rather spend the money here and know it’ll last.
