Normalizing FRIENDships
You heard me.
True. Strong. Friendships.
Examples:
Lord of the Rings - Frodo & Sam, Bilbo & Company, Legolas & Aragorn
Harry Potter - Harry & Ron
Fantastic Beasts - Newt & Jacob
Witcher - Geralt & Jaskier
Star Wars - Padmé & Sabé/Padmé & Dormé, C3P0 & R2-D2, Han & Chewbacca
Dr. Who - The Doctor (Matt Smith) & Amy Pond, The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) & Clara Oswald
Captain America - Steven Rodgers & Bucky
Okay, Okay, the list goes on!
But you get the point. People are so hard to SHIP characters together as Lovers. It makes me sick. Nobody wants to see two characters fucking each other. To be blunt. If you’re that thirsty you have some problems of your own to fix. Unfortunately that’s most of the internet.
The only SHIP I want sailing is the USS FRIENDship.
Why is it so hard to just imagine two people of any gender together as the best buddies that they are? To have someone who’ll have your back and the only thing you get in return is the same respect and admiration for the other person?
I have two really best friends who’re male. You boys know who you are. One I’ve been friends with for LITERALLY half of my life. And he’s like a clone copy of me. I love him to death. But we’ll always be best friends.
Same with the second. He’s always listening and we’ve only become friends in recent years but I wouldn’t change that for the world. You just meet GREAT people in life and they are the keepers.
I also became friends with this chick super recently, and she’s honest to god my Soul Mate. Not saying it to implicate anything. Just that we’re so insanely similar I’m in love with this girl. But not like THAT. It’s just not me. I adore this person because she’s wonderful and honest and just the best person I’ve ever gotten to know. It’s a FRIENDship that means a lot to me because we keep finding so many similarities in ourselves that it’s crazy!
There’s nothing wrong with loving who ya love. But you can also love people in a great sense of kinship. More stories need to be based off of that. Accept the fact that not everyone wants to be close to other to date. We’re only Human. Humans want connections. There are many different KINDS of connections.
Another great example is my “Canadian Fam.” I honestly feel like I’ve been adopted into a slightly larger circle of a group I met through streaming. They are also wonderful people. It’s another artist, her mom, her other friends, etc. I truly feel like family with these guys. It’s once again another CONNECTION that doesn’t imply anything except the feeling of being able to be yourself and being loved by others.
So let’s normalize this!
